AHLUX

Ahlux is the studio founded by Augusto Grillo, born in 1954. With extensive experience as a manager at Panasonic's European research center, Grillo led numerous projects focused on creativity, design, and innovation. From 1993 to 2001, he was the Managing Director at VillaTosca Design Management Centre, a company specializing in creative process management. During these years, VillaTosca developed innovative techniques applicable to all stages of design, from trend analysis to concept creation for new products and services.

In 1998, Grillo launched “aedo-to.com,” one of the first portals dedicated to creativity. Over nine years, the site organized 27 competitive workshops, both national and international, providing job opportunities for about 100 designers and planners. During the '90s, he also started collaborating with Lumen Center Italia, exploring alternative light sources and studying the effect of light on human metabolism. Currently, Grillo is a Visiting Professor at TAMA University of Art and Design in Tokyo. His design methodology is deeply rooted in contemporary culture, combining aesthetic sensitivity, technology, and innovation, with a constant focus on light and visual comfort.

Grillo’s ideas merge humanism and science, Western and Eastern cultures, numbers, and aesthetic beauty, reflected in his works and publications such as "Numbers and Aesthetics," "Beauty of Beauty," and "Light and Visual Comfort."

Among his creations, for Lumen Center, he designed the Chiocciola reading lamp, made of metal and wood, adjustable via a key on the base. The lamp features a vertically adjustable LED spot with a foot dimmer. It is available in black and white, with a circular base in Canaletto walnut wood.
