Andrea Anastasio

Andrea Anastasio is a designer and artist who has followed a unique and adventurous path in his career. After studying philosophy and graduating from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, he started designing furniture and design objects for some of the biggest companies of the sector, such as Memphis, Danese and Artemide.In 1992, he decided to embark on a journey to India, where he contributed to the cataloging of Indian Islamic architecture for UNESCO and participated in projects of innovation of traditional craft techniques. In addition, he has collaborated with some of the most important architectural design firms, such as Mehrotra Associates and Urban Design Research Institute, and has also published two books with Tara Books. His artistic research focuses on the manipulation of objects and materials of the domestic context, with the aim of generating linguistic short circuits and sabotage of meaning. He has exhibited his work in various galleries around the world, and was artist in residence at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. In 2017, it won the Best Light Award at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and the Best Light of the Year at the Interior Design Magazine in the USA. In addition to the Gioia wall lamp, he also designs the Madre and Filo table lamps for the Foscarini brand.
